Hello!
I am an interdisciplinary creator with a degree in interior design (Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Innenarchitektur) based mainly in Berlin, Germany and sometimes in Pai, Thailand. I speak fluent German and English and basic conversational Thai and Spanish.
I love creating peaceful and aesthetic spaces that comfort my soul and do so wherever I am, but I never found a big enough liking for interior design or scenography in the commercial world to work in those fields for long in the past.
Then I slid into doing more and more freelance graphic design jobs just because I could, although that isn't really my passion either. My main priority for many years was to be independent from rigid employment contracts in order to freely allocate my time, travel, and care for my father.
A brief stint at being a publisher and creative director of Elsewhere: A Journal of Place (first edition 2.000 copies, 5 editions in total over the course of two years) was, in hindsight, more a "prestige" project than according to my true spirit, although I am pretty proud of what my Elsewhere-partner Paul and I created.
All the while, through my self-employed activities, I was getting really good at "side skills" like accounting, tax declarations and being very organized - tasks which truly bore me but which satisfied my need for overview, structure and feeling useful.
This culminated in my working for my husband Jan's boat rental company for years, where - instead of being in the workshop with him crafting new ideas - I tied myself to the desk, completing a lot of extremely necessary things in order to keep the company running (restructuring it on all levels, managing bookings, customer and employee support, marketing, accounting, website, and more) but which depleted my energy and enthusiasm. (Do check out Wasserkutsche and rent a houseboat from my awesome husband, the boats are unique and it is a beautiful experience!)
Then came The Great Rebellion (aka perimenopause) in which my unhappiness about this waste of my spirit and talents expressed itself in ways which my consciousness and reason could finally not ignore or disregard anymore. Emergency brake!
Currently, I am getting back on the track my sense of purpose and inner peace is leading me. (Or, I might be dancing down that path already and it doesn't involve this website anymore in case it hasn't been updated in a while!) My main interests are plants and nature, gastronomy, more-than-human and human connections, the arts, crafts, interpreting the world around me and spinning ideas.
